Hosted by Soul Era Records and The Lipstickroyalty Agency Inc., Open Sessions brought live music discovery, industry conversation, and meaningful connection to the heart of Wynwood.

Miami’s emerging music community took center stage at Arlo Wynwood for Open Sessions, a music discovery and industry networking experience hosted by Soul Era Records and The Lipstickroyalty Agency Inc.

Created to provide emerging and independent artists with more than another performance opportunity, Open Sessions brought artists, music professionals, creatives and supporters together for an evening centered around discovery, education, access and genuine relationship-building.

With music throughout the evening by DJ Katana, the event blended curated listening sessions, artist performances and industry conversation into an intimate experience designed to help bridge the gap between creating great music and gaining access to the people, information and opportunities that can help move an artist's career forward.

Creating a Different Kind of Room for Emerging Artists

Open Sessions began with a simple idea: emerging artists need spaces where they can not only perform, but also be heard, learn, connect and build relationships.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m., the evening opened with introductions before transitioning into its first listening session.

The opening round featured music from Tommi Waring, Joziah Council, Blou the Artist, Nia Devine and Nyeri, introducing attendees to a range of emerging sounds and perspectives.

Following the first intermission, the sessions continued with music from NalaSolange, Bri Lynn, Mellow The Medicine, No. 22, Ayesha Ghosh, Charlie St. Clout, Blue Nightmare and YhlwBh.

Later in the evening, SymSimma joined the lineup before recording artist Masha Kova took the stage for a featured performance. The evening also included a session from Zena, bringing the inaugural experience toward its close.

Throughout the night, DJ Katana provided the soundtrack and helped maintain the energy between sessions, performances and conversations.

Industry Insight Beyond the Music

An important part of the Open Sessions experience was creating access not only to an audience, but also to industry knowledge and perspective.

The evening welcomed Illusion and Cedric the Artist as panelists, adding an educational component to the event and creating space for candid industry conversation with participating artists and attendees.

That exchange is central to the larger vision for Open Sessions.

For emerging talent, exposure alone is rarely enough. Artists are simultaneously navigating branding, marketing, performance, audience development, relationships, business decisions and the realities of building sustainable careers.

By bringing artists and industry voices into the same environment, Open Sessions created an opportunity for information and connections to move in both directions.

Where Music Discovery Meets Community

Unlike a traditional showcase built primarily around the stage, Open Sessions was intentionally structured to allow music discovery and networking to coexist.

Intermissions between sessions weren't simply breaks in programming. They provided opportunities for artists, attendees, and industry professionals to introduce themselves, continue conversations, and discover potential collaborators.

It transformed the evening from something audiences simply watched into something they could actively participate in.

For artists accustomed to sharing their work primarily through streaming services and social media, Open Sessions also provided something digital platforms cannot fully replicate: the opportunity to experience people responding to their music in the room.

Arlo Wynwood Sets the Stage

Hosting Open Sessions at Arlo Wynwood placed the event within one of Miami's most recognizable creative neighborhoods and provided a fitting backdrop for an experience rooted in music, culture and community.

The collaboration demonstrated the role hospitality spaces can play in supporting a city's creative ecosystem when artists, cultural organizations and venues come together intentionally.

Against the energy of Wynwood, the evening brought together different corners of South Florida's music community in one environment, from emerging performers and established creatives to industry professionals and music supporters looking to discover what's next.

An Initiative Powered by Collaboration

Open Sessions also represented the complementary expertise of its hosts.

Soul Era Records brought its perspective in music, talent and artist development, while The Lipstickroyalty Agency Inc. contributed its expertise across public relations, marketing, communications, experiential strategy and talent positioning.

Together, the organizations developed an experience centered not simply around putting artists on a stage, but around creating an ecosystem in which artists could perform, connect, learn, and be discovered.

The evening's combination of listening sessions, live performance, DJ programming, industry discussion, and networking demonstrated what Open Sessions is ultimately designed to become: a recurring meeting place between emerging talent and the larger creative industry.

More Than One Night

The success of Open Sessions at Arlo Wynwood reinforced the importance of creating intentional spaces for emerging artists in Miami.

For every artist heard during the evening, the objective extended beyond a single song or performance.

It was about introducing new talent to new audiences.

Creating conversations that might not otherwise happen.

Giving artists access to industry perspectives.

Connecting creatives who may become future collaborators.

And continuing to strengthen the infrastructure surrounding Miami's independent music community.

For Soul Era Records and The Lipstickroyalty Agency, Open Sessions represents an investment in what can happen before the breakthrough.

Because careers aren't built through visibility alone. They're built through preparation, relationships, community, opportunity and repeatedly getting into the rooms where something meaningful can begin.

Open Sessions is creating more of those rooms.
