Miramar, FL- Saturday, July 20th, the collective of event engineers known as Underground Gold Miami hosted its 6th annual Summer Rim basketball tournament. The highly-anticipated sporting event gives back to the community each summer by giving proceeds to local charities and collecting school supplies from attendees. Summer Rim brings artists, producers, athletes, curators, and creatives together to play for a cause, and each year the stakes are higher as the loaded rosters compete for the championship trophy and a year worth of bragging rights. This year, Fly Stoner Motive and his Fly Stoner team got a taste of what Summer Rim was all about.
Team Fly Stoner faced off against Team BDE, led by coach and Miami artist Tafia, in the first round of the tournament. During the game, Motive’s marketing team completed brand activation with complimentary t-shirts and water bottles promoting his album “You Wasn’t There.”
Team Fly Stoner didn’t move on to win the championship, but nonetheless gave a stellar performance on the Youth Enrichment Center basketball court.
“We started off really dominant and we played with confidence, but BDE came back strong and won. I’m still proud of my squad,” replied Motive when asked about the outcome of the first round.
Team Fly Stoner still came out as winners, with their participation helping UGMIA exceed its philanthropic mission. Over 600 attendees came out to see the teams of Miami’s “it-crowd” battle it out on the court, with Fly Stoner Motive bringing in a crowd of supporters himself.
“I wanted to participate in this event not only to get Fly Stoner out there, but also because I wanted to be apart of something with a great cause behind it. In the future, I want Fly Stoner to be more active in the community because it’s the community that supports me. I can’t wait to come back and be apart of Summer Rim next year,” said Motive.
