Miramar Opens 24-Hour Relief Sites for Venezuela. Sky Monroe Among Community Leaders Calling on South Florida to Help

Sky Monroe, Colombian-American Artist Joins the City of Miramar’s Venezuela Relief Effort and Calls on Her Community to Show Up
The people of Venezuela need help. And right now, in South
Florida, there is something tangible every one of us can do about it.
The City of Miramar has launched a Venezuela Relief Effort collecting essential supplies forthose affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis. The drive runs through July 31, 2026, with six drop-off locations across the city open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Colombian-American recording artist and songwriter Sky Monroe is among those stepping forward …not as a spokesperson, but as a member of a community that takes care of its own.
For Sky Monroe, this is not a campaign. It is a calling. Raised with deep Colombian roots, she grew up understanding what it means to belong to a Latin American community that shows up when things get hard. The crisis in Venezuela is not abstract to her. It is personal. It is cultural. And it requires action, not just awareness.
“Juntos somos más fuertes,” said Sky Monroe. “Together we are stronger. That is not just something we say. That is something we live. Venezuela needs us right now and I am asking everyone in my community to please share this, pray, drop something off, make a call. Do something no matter how big or small. Every single item that gets donated makes a real difference to a real person.”
The City of Miramar is currently accepting the following donations: non-perishable food, water, hygiene kits and toiletries, batteries, professional first-aid kits, hand sanitizers, disposable diapers (adult and children), new blankets, pet supplies, cots and sleeping bags, protective gear including gloves and KN95 masks, and cleanup and repair supplies such as
tarps, duct tape, industrial trash bags, and shovels.
Please note: donations of clothing, shoes, linens, or similar items cannot be accepted at this time.
Drop-off sites are staffed and accessible around the clock. There is no appointment needed.
Pull up, drop off, and know that what you left behind is going directly toward helping families rebuild their lives. “This is what our community does,” Monroe added.
“We show up for each other in time of need. I am asking everyone who has ever supported me — my music, my message, any part of myjourney — to please take five minutes today and share this information with someone who can help. You do not have to do everything. But you can do something.”
