Some songs arrive at the right moment. “Papá” arrived at the right moment. Now the visual does too.

Colombian-American recording artist, songwriter, and producer Sky Monroe announces the premiere of the official music video for her debut Spanish-language single “Papá” on Vevo this Friday, July 17, 2026. The video was shot and produced by LipstickRoyalty Images, the visual media production division of The LipstickRoyalty Agency Inc. and is  a cinematic love letter that brings to life one of the most emotionally resonant songs of the year.

The Song That Started Everything

When “Papá” was released on June 19, 2026 and arrived not as a promotional single but as a promise kept. Sky Monroe had written the song years earlier, played a simple demo for her father, and promised him that when it was finished, he would be in the room. On a May evening in a Miami studio, with the vallenato accordion of Latin Grammy winner Channo Tierra filling the air, that promise was fulfilled.

The song acknowledges a father’s sacrifices and the unconditional, everlasting love he carries for his children.

“I wanted him to feel every word the way I meant it,” said Monroe. “This song is a direct conversation with my dad. Like I am sitting across from him and saying everything I have always wanted to say.”

What happened in that studio became the defining moment of her career. As she sang to her father, the two began to dance. When Monroe told him the recording felt like one of her greatest achievements, her father stopped her mid-sentence and said: “Your performance in this room, as raw as it is, is the most important show or concert you have ever given me. Nothing will ever top this.”

That moment is now on film. And on Friday, the world will see it.

The Music Video: What to Expect

The visual centers on the actual studio session, capturing in real time the intimate, unscripted, and unrepeatable moments between a daughter and her father as the song comes to life around them. The footage is raw. The emotion is real.

What the audience will see is exactly what occurred: a Colombian-American woman finishing a song she wrote for her father, with her father by her side, surrounded by the sound of a vallenato accordion that connected both of them to something deeper than music.

In an era when music videos are increasingly cinematic, produced, and carefully constructed, the “Papá” visual stands apart precisely because it was none of those things. It was a family moment that happened to be filmed. And that authenticity … is what makes it unforgettable.

Why This Song Is Generational

“Papá” arrived at a cultural moment that was ready for it. Father’s Day 2026 saw an unprecedented wave of conversation around fathers — their emotional lives, the weight they carry in silence, and the ways in which children struggle to find the words before it is too late. Sky Monroe wrote this song to close that gap. Not just for herself and her father. For everyone.

“When people hear this song they may think it is only about a father,” Monroe has said. “But this song is for anyone who has ever been cared for by someone who asked for nothing in return. It is for the parent who wonders if they are doing enough. It is for the child who never found the words. And it is for anyone carrying something heavy who needs to know they are not alone.”

That universality is what makes “Papá” more than a song for a single holiday. It is a song for weddings, for quinceañeras, for graduations, for the quiet Sunday mornings when you think about someone you love. It is a song that parents will play for their children and children will dedicate to their parents. It is a song the Latin community will claim as their own while the rest of the world recognizes something of themselves in it too.

The vallenato accordion, played by Channo Tierra, a Latin Grammy winner and one of the most celebrated Colombian musicians performing today, is not simply a musical choice. It is a cultural statement. Vallenato is the heartbeat of Colombia. Having it on this record is Sky Monroe saying, without words, that this song is rooted. That she is rooted. That no matter where she builds her career or where the music takes her … her Colombia is always with her.
